DNA Policy - Missed Appointment Policy

Important Information

We understand that life can be unpredictable, and situations may arise that prevent you from attending your scheduled appointment. Our goal is to provide high-quality care to all our patients, and part of this involves managing our appointment schedule effectively. To help us serve you and others better, please review our missed appointment policy.

  • Patients are required to notify the clinic at least 24 hours in advance if they need to cancel or reschedule their appointment.

  • Cancellations can be made via phone, email, or through the clinic's online scheduling system Pippo.

  • An appointment is considered missed if the patient fails to show up without prior notification.

  • Chronic No-Show Patients: Patients who miss more than three appointments in a 12-month period may be subject to review and potential discharge from the practice, except in cases of emergency or exceptional circumstances.

Cough, Colds in Children

Children can pick up viral infections such as cold and flu more easily than adults. This is because their immune system is still developing. A viral infection is an infection caused by a virus (germ). View more information here https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/colds-coughs-children/

GP Visit Card Under 8

How to register?

Many parents are unfamiliar with the procedure of registering new babies for the under 8 card and automatically assume their baby is covered because of their age. This misunderstanding often leads to confusion and upset when they arrive at the clinic or an out-of-hours service without a valid card, resulting in charges as private patients.

  • In order to avoid this we would like to remind parent of the following:

  • A parent can apply online and leave the PPS number blank.

  • The HSE will text them a GMS number and the card will follow a few days later.

  • Parents should register their child early - ideally at the two check-up.

Please find below the link to the HSE website, where you can find more information. Usually, after receiving a text with a card number, the physical card will be sent to your home address within a few days.

GP Visit Card Ages 8-69

GP Visit Card Information

At Kinsealy Medical Centre, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare to our community. One of the services available to our patients is the GP Visit Card, which allows individuals to visit their general practitioner (GP) free of charge. Here’s everything you need to know about the GP Visit Card, including eligibility, application process, and benefits.

Eligibility for GP Visit Card

1. People Aged 8 to 69

You may qualify for a GP Visit Card based on your household income. The Health Service Executive (HSE) assesses income to determine eligibility. The income limits vary depending on the number of people in your household and other specific circumstances.

2. Other Eligibility Criteria

  • Medical Conditions: Individuals with certain long-term medical conditions may be eligible for a GP Visit Card regardless of income.

  • Carers: If you are a carer providing full-time care to someone who is ill or has a disability, you might qualify for a GP Visit Card.

  • Means-Tested Schemes: People who qualify for the means-tested scheme for social welfare benefits may also be eligible.

How to Apply

Applying for a GP Visit Card is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Check Your Eligibility

Visit the HSE website or contact our clinic to check if you meet the eligibility criteria based on your income or other qualifying conditions.

Step 2: Gather Required Information

You will need the following information to complete your application:

  • Personal details (name, address, date of birth, etc.)

  • PPS number (Personal Public Service number)

  • Income details for yourself and your household members

You can apply for a GP Visit Card online through the HSE website or by filling out a paper application form. Make sure to provide accurate information and all required documentation.
